Empowering Georgia’s Trauma System
Today’s medical community is faced with a wide array of trauma patients that arise out of everything from car accidents to sports injuries.
Our goal is to support the highest level of trauma care in the state of Georgia.
Investing in Trauma Care to Save Lives in Georgia
At Georgia Trauma Foundation, our mission is clear: “Investing in trauma care to save lives in Georgia.” We are dedicated to enhancing trauma care across the state, particularly in rural areas, where timely and effective medical intervention can mean the difference between life and death.
The Georgia Trauma Foundation is driven by a profound commitment to save lives and support those impacted by traumatic injuries. Since 2013, we’ve poured our hearts into making Georgia a safer place, fully aware that trauma is not just a statistic—it’s the leading cause of death for people under 45 in the U.S., and it deeply affects families and communities. Our independence from any hospital or organization allows us to focus on the whole trauma system, ensuring patients receive the best possible care when they need it most. We are passionate about offering advanced continuing education, especially in rural areas, because we know knowledge and preparation can make all the difference in a life-or-death situation. As the fundraising arm of this effort, we rely on the generosity and support of our community to continue this critical work, knowing that every contribution has the potential to save a life.
A TRAUMA SYSTEM IS DEFINED AS A STRATEGICALLY ORGANIZED APPROACH TO:
These are fully integrated within a state’s public health system to ensure all patients get the best care in a timely, coordinated, cost-effective manner. Our goal is to provide optimal care for the most severely injured patients of Georgia.
Trauma is a Public Health Issue
Here are some hard-hitting facts:
Trauma is the 4th leading cause of death for all age groups
For every death caused by traumatic injury, three people become severely disabled
Amount the death/disability rate decreases in areas with established trauma systems
Minutes Matter When Finding Trauma Care
While these numbers highlight the urgency of trauma care, our mission goes beyond the immediate response following an injury. We are committed to long-term solutions that improve trauma care across Georgia. It may be too late to save a life if it takes too long to get appropriate care at a trauma center…because minutes matter.
When trauma strikes, every minute is crucial, which is why the Georgia Trauma Foundation focuses on ensuring that the state’s trauma care system is prepared to respond quickly and effectively. Our work transcends education; we support a comprehensive network of care that includes enhancing resources, training, and system-wide improvements to ensure that patients receive prompt, high-quality treatment when every second counts. This holistic approach helps to reduce the time it takes for patients to receive critical care, reinforcing our dedication to saving lives across Georgia.

Bridging the Gap in Trauma Care
At Georgia Trauma Foundation, we are dedicated to improving trauma care through four key pillars: Injury Prevention, Education, Advocacy, and Research. Our injury prevention programs aim to reduce accidents and trauma injuries through education and awareness. We collaborate with state partners to fund innovative research projects to advance trauma treatment and outcomes in Georgia. Our educational initiatives provide essential training for healthcare professionals and first responders, while our advocacy efforts help bring awareness and policies that prioritize trauma care accessibility and funding, ensuring a safer and more prepared community.
By empowering Georgia’s trauma network we make sure that no time is wasted when every second counts. Our goal is to ensure that trauma victims receive the best possible care through our programs, regardless of location.
