Regina S. Medeiros,

Since 1990, Regina has worked in trauma at Augusta University Medical Center in Augusta, Georgia. She first served as an ICU nurse in the Shock Trauma ICU transitioning in 1994 to the Trauma Program Manager and most recently as the Trauma Programs Director. She is also an Adjunct Faculty Member at the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University and the College of Nursing at Augusta University.

Regina received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Northeastern University. She later received her Masters of Health Services Administration from the Medical University of South Carolina followed by her Doctor of Nursing Practice at the Augusta University College of Nursing.

An active contributor in the medical community, Regina has held leadership positions for numerous committees, research grants, non-profit organizations and educational programs. A few of her community contributions include co-founding the Trauma Associates of Georgia, a non-profit organization created for the purpose of sharing and utilizing Georgia trauma resources to educate trauma care professionals across the state, and actively presenting at various state, regional and national conferences. Regina also serves as a Consultant and Surveyor for the Georgia Department of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma.

A recipient of the “Nurse Hero” recognition from the American Red Cross in 2013, Regina also authored a “Top 10 Article” in the Journal of Trauma Nursing, among many other published writings.   Other professional interests include trauma systems development, data quality, performance improvements and education.
